I am full of earth and dirt and You.

So today was my last Sunday at Bethlehem before leaving for Berkeley! Next Sunday is "Bethlehem Serves" which is like Fall/Spring Service Day at CLU -- a bunch of community service activities to sign up for and carpool to all on one weekend! Super fun. And then I leave on the 25th, so this was the last service before I go. It was really awesome. Jonathan preached (which I always love) and J-unit did the music (which I always love) so it was a really great last Sunday morning in that space. It's not like I'm never coming back or something -- every time I come home to Encinitas I will be there. But it was a nice send-off. And, since I'm off to seminary, Pr. Laura blessed me on my way and the congregation signed cards for me and it was very lovely. On a self-awesome note, it was really cool to hear all the words of encouragement from my congregation, and for them to be so supportive and taking such ownership of my journey. Sometimes it's annoying because I'm pretty sick of explaining my plans to every single person in my congregation every Sunday after service...but today was all right. The best part, though, was singing "Wholly Yours," one of David Crowder's most beautifully-lyricked songs. If you don't know it, listen to this:

But the harder I try the more clearly can I
Feel the depth of our fall and the weight of it all
And so this might could be the most impossible thing
Your grandness in me making me clean

So here I am -- all of me -- finally, everything
holy, holy, wholly yours

Not a great first.

As though you ever thought you'd see this day.
